Ghana enters New Year with prayers and revelry

Christians prayed and sang in praise of Jesus Christ, whilst tons of fireworks lit the night sky amidst jubilation as Ghanaians gave spiritual and secular welcome to the New Year 2012.

Elsewhere, other citizens, mainly the youth, danced their way into 2012 at night clubs and discotheques.

The two groups had one thing in common – peace and prosperity for themselves, their country and mankind – but chose different routes to express them, a tour of Accra by Ghana News Agency on December 31st night to the dawn of January 1st, 2012 revealed.

In Accra, a lot of worshipers thronged churches clogged in white apparels. Most churches witnessed large number of congregants some of whom were unable to find seats.

Those unable to find seat were equally happy to be within church premises to welcome the New Year.

As the minutes ticked by into the New Year, there were shouts of praises and prayers that could be heard from distances signifying the dawn of year 2012.

On the streets of the capital, revellers sang in groups from place to place while some youth went from house-to-house singing carols to solicit funds. Just before midnight, pastors invited their congregations to say prayers for the New Year, especially as Ghana enters another election year.....

Cocoa Farmers Angry

COCOA FARMERS in the Jomoro District of the Western Region have vented their spleen on some cocoa purchasing clerks for allegedly exploiting them in the area through the manipulation of their weighing scales.

According to the cocoa farmers, since most of them weighed their cocoa beans in their homes before sending the commodity to the various sheds, they were able to detect the disparities on respective scales, which was to their disadvantage.

“It is only proper to give back to us, the cocoa farmers, our fair share of the proceeds from our toil and labour,” they noted, adding that farming used to be a lucrative venture for people living in rural areas but the trend had changed.

They have therefore called on the Ghana Cocoa Board to intervene and ensure there is a standard scale for weighing their cocoa beans, otherwise they would smuggle the commodity to neighbouring Ivory Coast to sell.

These came to light last week during a public forum organized by the Jomoro District Cocoa Farmers’ Association at Elubo. The forum was sponsored by the Business Sector Advocacy Challenge (BUSAC) fund in the Jomoro District.

Nana Osei Tutu, Vice Chairman of the Association, remarked that it had been the practice of some of the clerks in the area to manipulate their weighing scales to cheat cocoa farmers.

He indicated that even though his outfit had made several complaints to the authorities concerned about alleged misdeeds being perpetrated by some of the purchasing clerks, nothing had been done to salvage the situation.

Cadmond Dadzie, a service provider at BUSAC, indicated that it was a criminal offence to tamper with weighing scales with the intention to cheat farmers.

He appealed to the officials of the Ghana Standards Board to make some unannounced checks of the weighing scales used by the purchasing clerks, as they did to the operators of the various petrol filling stations, to help curb the unwholesome practice.

The Paramount Chief of Akporsor in the Biakoye District of the Volta Region Nana Okitikpo III and his son, Ameye Nicholas were shot last night in front of his palace at Apesorkubi.
Nicolas was killed instantly while the paramount chief survived the attack with injuries. The District Chief Executive Nana Louis Akata attributes the situation to negligence on the part of the Police.
According to him, the police failed to respond to the security threats in the area and he therefore called for a swift response from the military to avert the situation.

Speaking to Joy News’ Volta Regional correspondent Agbeko Ben Coffie, the DCE said “there are two ethnic groups and the peace officers must be seen to be playing a neutral role and enforce law and order. How can somebody stab another and then he goes scot free?”
He believes if the police do not stop taking sides and carry out their professional duties, the Akporsor’s will be annihilated.

Mr. Akata Louis explained that the problem is as a result of a disagreement between the Akans and the Akporsor's on which ethnic group has the right to organise the festival in the area.

He said the Akporsors are the indigenes and the Akans are the settlers, and the two groups continuously feud over control of activities in the Biakoye District.

Traders, police clash over market demolition

Several traders at the Dome market in Accra sustained injuries when they clashed with policemen tasked to demolish the market place Tuesday.

One policeman was also injured in the skirmishes and was rushed to the hospital, Joy News can confirm.

The market women sustained the injuries as they scampered to safety from warning shots and volleys of teargas by the police. The traders vowed to resist the exercise, according to Joy News reporter Nana Agyei Essuman.

He said hundreds of market women and youth in the area joined forces by hurling stones at the police in their bid to stop the demolition.

They had succeeded in preventing the exercise a few weeks ago when they mounted roadblocks with the women threatening to embark on a nude demonstration.

But this time around the security forces were in no mood to be threatened or dictated to by the aggrieved market women as the police pulled down structures and wares to clear the area for what officials say is the expansion of the old market.

    Ashaiman Thieves Busted

TWO SUSPECTED burglars have been arrested and brutalised by

some aggrieved youth of Ashaiman New-Tulaku for allegedly

breaking into the room of Musah Ibrahim, a resident.

The suspected thieves allegedly stole items worth thousands of

    Ghana cedis from Ibrahim’s room.
The suspects gave their names as Richard Awuah, a 19-year-old

cattle herdsman and Eric Yeboah, 18-year-old unemployed, both

residents of Ashaiman. They were said to have stolen laptops, a

cell phone, video deck, television set and an unspecified amount

    of money.
Narrating the incident which led to their arrest to DAILY GUIDE,

Ibrahim noted that on that fateful day, December 13, 2011, he

travelled to see his family. The next day, he returned to his room

only to detect that some of his property were missing.
According to him, he picked up information from some residents

who claimed to have spotted the suspects stealing but they

    couldn’t arrest them.

Yeboah was identified as one of the suspect by some of the

resident when he resurfaced in the area a week after the act and

    he was apprehended.
According to Ibrahim, Yeboah, in his confession, alleged that

after taking the items, he and his accomplice gave them to a

certain Beloo, who is currently on the run.

Yeboah was said to have led the youth to Awuah’s hideout at

Kasoa in the Central Region where he was also apprehended

    and taken back to Ashaiman.
Some of the irate youth were heard calling for the burning of the

suspects, with others suggesting they should be sent to the

nearest police station but DAILY GUIDE’s checks at Ashaiman

Main Police Station and Community 22 Police Station, the

nearest stations they could have been sent to, revealed that no

    such case was recorded.
The suspects sustained injuries on their face, forehead, legs and

    other parts of their body.
Yeboah claimed to have sold the only phone among the alleged

stolen items for an amount of GH¢3.00.
Most of the residents could not hide their joy at the development
as, according to them, thieves had being terrorizing them.
They added that the suspects deserved the instant justice as it

would put fear in others who might want to come to their area to steal.

New Bird flu "scientists" DELIBERATELY create 'Armageddon' virus in lab ...
    Breaking News !!!!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Now Official ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
USA and Netherland "scientists" at the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam have created NEW Bird Flu Virus - H5N1 bird flu - that spreads as easily as winter flu !!!!!!!!!!!!! Claiming, that the flu virus was only created  to be used to create a vaccine "AGAINST" bird flu!!! This new virus is able to cross the barrier of human defence!!!

A super-strain of bird flu that could infect and wipe out millions has been developed in a laboratory.

Dutch scientists who created the ‘Armageddon virus’ say it is ‘probably one of the most dangerous viruses you can make’.

This underlines Muamma Al Gaddafi`s statement in 2009 at the Unided Nations!!!

Read the speech of Muammar Al Gaddafi:
...In the name of the African Union, I would like to greet the members of the General Assembly of the United Nations, and I hope that this meeting will be among the most historic in the history of the world.

In the name of the General Assembly at its sixty-fourth session, presided over by Libya, of the African Union, of one thousand traditional African kingdoms and in my own name, I would like to take this opportunity, as President of the African Union, to congratulate our son Obama because he is attending the General Assembly, and we welcome him as his country is hosting this meeting.

This session is taking place in the midst of so many challenges facing us, and the whole world should come together and unite its efforts to defeat the challenges that are our principal common enemy — those of climate change and international crises such as the capitalist economic decline, the food and water crises, desertification, terrorism, immigration, piracy, man-made and natural epidemics and nuclear proliferation.
    >>> Perhaps influenza H1N1 was a virus created in a laboratory that got out of control, originally being meant as a military weapon. <<<

Such challenges also include hypocrisy, poverty, fear, materialism and immorality.

Ghana Second Dirtiest Country In West Africa

GHANA HAS been ranked among the most unsanitary countries in the world due to stinking filth in the capital, Accra and other parts of the country, according to information provided by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Maxwell Kofi Jumah.

Having a little rest at the beach!  AKWAABA!

As you may see, there are even pigs on Accras beautyfull beaches!

Contributing to the debate on President Atta Mills’ 2012 budget statement and economic policy, the Asokwa MP quoted what he indicated were rankings by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), pointing out the two international bodies recently ranked Ghana the fourth most unsanitary country in Africa, out of 52 nations judged, and second dirtiest out of 15 West African countries.

Mr. Jumah, a former Chief Executive of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), said the country had been ranked so because the Mills administration had failed to fulfill its campaign promise to rid Accra and other the cities of filth.

The former KMA boss, who is also the Deputy Ranking Member for the Select Committee on Local Government and Rural Development, stated that three years after the Mills administration promised to get rid of filth in Accra, there was still stinking garbage all over the place.

According to him, the sanitation situation was so appalling that the Supreme Court had to order Accra Metropolitan Assembly to put up more public toilets.

Mr. Kofi Jumah entreated President Mills to declare a state of emergency on sanitation rather than chasing phantom enemies with vile threats. “Instead of declaring red alerts to ghost enemies and instead of daring political opponents, His Excellency Prof. Mills, should declare a national emergency on sanitation in Ghana,” he challenged president Mills.

Touching on other issues in the 2012 budget, which he described as ‘Dayie budget’ (Rest In Peace Budget), Mr. Kofi Jumah slammed President Mills for failing to honour promises he made two years ago, to support MPs to effectively perform their parliamentary duties.

“I believe my colleague MPs are still waiting for the implementation of the MPs Development Fund and the constituency offices promised us two years ago. Just like other promises, these announcements excited all of us only to disappear in thin air,” the Asokwa MP said.

    Gambilla released from BNI custody

Former Upper East Regional Minister, Boniface Gambilla

has been released from the custody of the Bureau of

    National Investigations (BNI).

He was picked up yesterday by the BNI to answer

    allegations

of theft. National Youth Organiser Anthony Karbo confirmed

Mr. Gambilla’s release to Joy News.

Information Joy News has picked up suggests that the BNI’s

action is based on recommendations from a 2003 audit

report that revealed alleged mishandling of expenditure

to the tune of 470,000 cedis.

This was cash for the purchase of bicycles, mattresses,

lanterns and food items for service personnel which

    remain unaccounted for.

4.5 million barrels of oil 'missing'

Over 4. 58 million barrels of crude oil produced from the

Jubilee fields are unaccounted for as Kwabena Duffuor,

the Finance Minister under the ruling NDC and Tullow

    Oil have,

on separate occasions, stated different production figures

for the same period under review.

Using the average crude oil price over the material period

of January-September 2011, the missing barrels add up

to $493. 5 million or $458 million, going by the lower

hedging price that the government bet its crude oil sales

    on.

Paragraph 58 of the 2012 budget presented by Dr. Duffuor

on the 16th of November 2011 states: “Actual production

from January to September 2011 is 17. 42 million barrels.

It is expected that 2011 will close with an annual oil

    production of 24. 78 million barrels. ”

However, just a week earlier, on 9th November 2011, a

    press

statement by Tullow Oil, the largest partner in the Jubilee

Field project, stated that during the same period under

review, “over 22 million barrels of oil have been produced

and 21 oil cargoes have been safely exported. ”

The disparity in these production figures put out by the NDC

government and by Tullow Oil has raised further doubts

    over the transparency .....

Police-Military Conflict – Assault on Cops

    Condemned

The Police and the Military High commands have

condemned the seemingly bad blood between policemen

    and their

military counterparts in Tamale that has resulted in assault

and counter-assault by the two sister security agencies.

They have also described the situation as most unfortunate

and uncalled for and that it should be condemned in the

    strongest of terms.

The Northern Regional Police Commander and his

counterpart at the Airborne Force have, therefore, been

    directed to table

the issue before the Northern Regional Security Council

(REGSEC) for discussion, while investigations are also

opened to bring the culprits to book.

    The Inspector-General of Police (IGP),

    Mr Paul Tawiah Quaye.....

Oil companies pose no danger to our intelligence

    – Military

The presence of oil companies in the restricted Ghana Air Force

enclave in Takoradi has no security implications whatsoever,

Director of Public Affairs for the Ghana Armed Forces, Colonel

    Mbawine Atintande has said.

The air force, according to Col. Atintande, has adequate

measures in place to ensure its intelligence information is

    properly secure.
He was responding to concerns that the country’s intelligence

could be jeopardised with the current arrangement where the oil

companies, largely foreign multinationals, are operating from

the air force base in Takoradi.

Some civil society organisations and politicians have raised

concerns about the situation, fearing the companies could be

using their proximity to the military installation to undertake

covert operation and do intelligence gathering for their home

    countries.
An official at the Energy Ministry is quoted by the Daily Graphic

as saying that “…any sensitive information exchanged by the

national security could be monitored or intercepted by anybody

standing by the building, a situation which is not the best.”

But Col. Atintande told Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, the fears

    are unjustified.
In any case if any person or group of persons desire to intercept

intelligence communication of the air force, he insisted, they do

not need to be close to the air force base to do so.
“The companies themselves would not have necessarily just

walked into the premises and taken the space. These have been

given out by the armed forces for a particular purpose and

I don’t think that there is any problem with that....

Cargo From Ghana: Smoked rats, Flying

    Dogs & Live Snails

Cargo From Ghana: Disgusting Fund At Germany/Duesseldorf

    Airport By Customs

Disgusting Fund at Dusseldorf Airport: Customs has drawn hundreds

of kilograms of smoked cane rats(grass-cutters), Flying-dog(big-bats)

meat and living snails out of the air traffic.
The cargo was hidden in a "vegetable" broadcast from Ghana and

intended for a Ghanaian dealer in Dortmund.

According to the Customs in Duesseldorf/Germany, the Ghanaian

dealers from Dortmund in Germany by declaring his 45 African cartons

from Ghana, the Customs discovered a total delivery which contained

110 pounds of smoked fish and 10 kilos of meat including fried flying

    foxes and cane-rats.
A veterinarian declared the entire meat for not importable.

The immediate destruction is costing the dealer more than 800 Euro!

As another "delicacy" were two baskets full of living agate snails,

which were intended to be eaten. The animals are not one of the

protected species, but from food-legal point of view they were still not

allowed to be imported. They were given out for their existence in

    quarantine at a zoo.
In addition, the shipment contained also 209 packets with unknown

drugs. Here the official pharmacist must check the import capability

and decide if the dealer is due to a criminal case.

Finally the show were still at nearly 300 undeclared packs of

    cosmetics, liquor and DVDs.

For this purpose the Ghanaian trader in Dortmund/Germany

still threatens an investigation for tax evasion.

Is it allowed by our Customs(CEPS) in Ghana?

"I call on all Libyan people to go out and march in their millions in all the squares, in all the cities and villages and oases. Go peacefully. Be courageous, rise up, go to the streets, raise our green flags to the skies.

The NTC has no legitimacy because it was not nominated or appointed by the people. How did it get its legitimacy? Did the Libyan people elect them? Did the Libyan people appoint them? If the power of (international) fleets give legitimacy, then let the rulers in the Third World be ready. To those who recognize this council, be ready for the creation of transitional councils imposed by the power of fleets to replace you one by one from now on.

Bani Walid, Sirte, Warshfana and Nawhi, those four tribes are armed very well and they will never be defeated; those honorable people can not be subjected. All the people in Libya, all true Libyans will never surrender to the invaders and the colonizers.

We will fight for our freedom and we are willing to sacrifice more. The traitors and colonizers and NATO will be destroyed soon. They already no longer trust each other and they don’t trust their leaders; the traitors are unable to continue because their basis is weak.

Even if you don’t hear my voicee, don’t stop fighting."

US Consular Officer warns lottery applicants

Accra, Oct. 4, GNA - Mr Chris Santoro, Consular Officer at the United

States Embassy in Accra, has cautioned applicants of the 2013

Diversity Visa Lottery programme to avoid using fraudulent

    documents.
He said the Embassy had a way of detecting fraudulent documents

and when detected the applicant would be disqualified and not offered

    the visa.

"We utilise special technology and other means to identify those who

commit fraud for illegal immigration or those who submit multiple

entries. " Addressing a press conference on Monday to officially

announce the beginning of registration for the 2013 Diversity Visa

(DV) Lottery in Accra , Mr Santoro emphasized that the Embassy did

not endorse the use of Visa services where people put up tents and

cages to charge people, who want to apply for the programme,

stressing the US Diversity Visa is free. He therefore advised potential

applicants to seek information from their website.
    www.dvlottery.state.gov.
Mr Santoro explained that for married couple each of them could apply

separately to increase their chances of winning.

The 2013 DV Lottery begins at noon on Tuesday October 4, and ends

on Saturday, November 5, this year.

Mr Santoro said applicants might access the electronic DV Entry form

at their website during the registration period and noted that paper

    entries would not be accepted.

He said successful applicants for the DV-2013 would have to check

the website beginning May 1, 2012 to check their application status

using their unique confirmation number provided during their

     registration.

Mr Santoro in addition, warned applicants not to pay monies to

anybody who presented him or herself as a visa contractor.

The US DV lottery programme makes available up to 55,000

diversity visas annually to applicants all over the world.

Applicants are to possess a WAEC Senior High School result

with five passes including English and Mathematics, a first degree,

Higher National Diploma (HND) or an equivalent two years of work

experience within the past five years in an occupation requiring at

least two years training or experience.

TRADERS AT the Takoradi Market Circle ran helter-skelter amid

shouts of “sika duro! sakawa!” when a long yellowish brown snake

slithered out of a taxi parked near the Market Circle at about

    4:30 pm on Wednesday, September 28, 2011.

A lot of people who confirmed the story to Daily Guide at the scene

said they saw the snake moving from beneath the front seat of a

taxi just after the driver had alighted from it.

The shouts of “sika duro! sakawa!!” drew the attention of the taxi

driver who tried to catch the snake with his hand, but it climbed

into the boot of a nearby taxi, so the unidentified taxi driver quickly

jumped into his cab and drove off.

City guards, young men and some drivers around searched the

boot, engine and underneath the taxi but could not find it.

The curious crowd rushed to the scene and people immediately

offered Raid insecticide to spray all sides of the taxi, but the

“mysterious” snake could not be traced.

The car then moved to Kokompe, a suburb of Takoradi where a

special pesticide was sprayed into the car and the snake reared

its head after some Moslem incantations and prayer by a Mallam

who declined to mention his name.

He held the neck of the snake and some taxi drivers tooted their

horns and drove to the scene where the incident initially occurred.

There were other shouts and booing when ...

..."North African Nation's Energy Outlook Among Best in World....!

Muammar Gaddafi: Libya will never belong to traitors, Libya will be a hell for them

To Libya and its free people: Glory to you, greatest heroes of Libya! You carry the blood of your ancestors with pride.

The media are telling lies, they say that Gaddafi is in Venezuela, then they say that I am in Niger — but I am here with you.

There are also servants of the colonialists among our people, which I’m ashamed of. Hold on and be prepared all the time. I receive calls from all the cities of the Great Jamahiriya and the traitors’ zero hour will arrive inevitably.

The people who are martyred are alive for eternity as they fought and died for their country to be free of colonialism and chains, just like their fathers wished for in 1969. Forward! Forward!

The easiest solution would have been to let the colonial powers take the oil from our people to stop the aggression. But the blood of my ancestors, the blood of my father, my children and my grandchildren, the blood of all the Libyan men and women and children and the blood of all who are martyred by the bombing during this aggression, pushed us to the path of defiance and rejection of colonialism.

We have said and continue to say: this is the oil of the Libyan people, not of the French or the British. This yields which feed the people belong to people, it is not my property, it belongs to the people!

Martyrdom will become the fate of some heroes who keep resisting and who are true to their country. To some of you who are waiting for victory: don’t be sad because when you are sad you will become weak. Be patient for victory.

Libya is not the first country in the world which is attacked by the planes and fleets of the largest military coalition in the history of the world. But they overlooked the fact that Libya has a history of resistance and that Libya is the greatest nation on earth in their resistance, persistence and defiance of the aggression.

Libya will never belong to traitors, Libya will be a hell for them! A hell for NATO, for the West and its agents!

NPP Unhappy With $3bn Chinese Loan

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has raised issue with the

$3 billion Chinese facility recently approved by Parliament, claiming

that the loan violates the Petroleum Revenue

Management Act and agreements signed between Ghana

and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

According to the party, the consequences of the violations

were dire and disgraceful for the nation and urged the government to

take a second look at the loan agreement to avoid embarrassing the

    country.

Addressing the press at the NPP Headquarters in Accra,

the party’s Spokesman on Finance and Economic

Planning, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei, in a 14-point statement,

said the tenure of the tranche A of the loan was 15 years

and said it provided for the collateralisation of the

nation’s oil revenue for the $1.5 billion segment of the

loan for a period of 15 years....

The demonstrators, protesting against the US-led NATO aggression in Libya, started their peaceful march toward the United States embassy in the capital Accra on Saturday, but police confronted them with a prohibition order, blocking the continuation of the demonstrations, the independent website globalresearch.ca, reported.

The protesters, chanting “US, NATO hands off Libya! Hands off Africa,” continued the rally and police arrested 24 people that were later released.

The peaceful march came in defiance of a court order demanding postponement of the demonstration until September 28.

Protest leaders say the action of police shows the extent of US influence over the government in Ghana.

Since March, the United States and NATO have unleashed a punishing United Nations-mandated offensive against the fugitive Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi in an alleged attempt to pressure him into giving up power.

Thousands of airstrikes by the alliance have killed many Libyan civilians and revolutionary fighters, who are fighting the government troops.

The development comes as the National Transitional Council (NTC) in Libya has been given a UN seat.
The African Union also recognized the NTC as the legitimate government of the North African nation last week.
The Libyan revolution began on February 17 and on August 22 Tripoli fell and Gaddafi fled from the capital. The revolutionaries are currently making efforts to capture and secure the last Gaddafi bastions in the country.

Yesterday we were in the wilderness with a team of Tuaregs. And for security purposes we had no phones and no cameras. The Tuareg elders have given us a statement in which they state that they will not accept colonial crusaders in their lands.

In the south of Libya, the situation is not the same as described in the media. The rebels, along with Western reporters, rode through some of the villages. The villagers waved rat flags, but this was a purposeful deception. The villagers were involved in a mission that was designed to help cut off the supply lines of the rebels, and they waved the rebel flag to draw attention away from their underground, anti-NATO and anti-rebel activity.

NATO might decide to bomb, but there is now a problem for NATO: It can no longer distinguish between who is a rebel and who is Jamahiriya fighter. This is because Jamahiriya fighters are using guerrilla tactics in order to mix with the rebels.

We have visited and talked to many people. And they have told us that the NATO bombing has given them the inspiration to fight hard against NATO genocidal aggression. One tactic that the villagers use is to let the rebels come through, and then the kill them from behind.

We went behind the so-called enemy lines, and we assure you that there was no one to stop us. (For security reasons we will not mention the areas that we and the noble Tuareg tribesmen visited).

We recognize that the media and the rebels are misleading the people of the world, and that they are doing this in attempt to break our morale. But our morale is strong. ... Please Read More

    Libya: Benghazi green banner raised

    Friday, 23.09.2011

MSNBC TV received confirmed reports that the green flag of the Libyan Jamahiriya was raised over parts of Benghazi. The green flag was also raised again in many parts of Cyrenaica. There are continuing reports of clashes in Tripoli. This means that the resistance to the aggression of NATO has entered a new phase. NATO mercenary commanders are claiming that all of the rats who attempted to storm Sirte and Bani Walid were killed. There are no NATO-rebel "rats" on the ground attacking Bani-Walid. The campaign against Bani Walid is now a NATO air campaign. But NATO might be considering the the introduction of mercenary troops that will try to take Bani-Walid.

The same is true for Sirte and Sabha, which are of great strategic importance. The fact that the green flag was raised over parts of Benghazi and throughout Cyrenaica emphasizes Gaddafi's recent statements reminding the world that the Libyan people, not NATO and not the rebels, are the rulers of Libya. And the Libyan people will never agree to being slaves.... Please Read More

Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah on Sept. 21, 2011, Osagyefo’s 102nd birthday! (Out of power with main support of CIA)

The U.S.-NATO Hands Off Libya! Hands Off Africa! Coalition consists of revolutionary and progressive African organizations in Ghana who oppose the U.S.-NATO illegal invasion of Libya/Africa and support Muammar Qaddafi and the Libyan Jamahiriya to win the war against U.S.-NATO imperialist military forces and NTC/Al Qaeda reactionaries. The coalition is organizing a march from Kwame Nkrumah Circle to the U.S. Embassy to demonstrate against the illegal U.S.-NATO invasion and for victory to Qaddafi and the Libyan Jamahiriya on Sept. 21, 2011. We are calling on all Africans in Africa and the Diaspora to demonstrate at U.S. embassies on the same day.

24 arrested for embarking on illegal demonstration / Sekou Mwanza Nkrumah, Leader of the demonstrators, also arrested

Accra, Sept. 21, GNA – Twenty-four out of about 100 people participating in a demonstration organised by the Coalition on US/NATO Hands-Off Libya, in Accra on Wednesday have been arrested and detained in Police custody.

The demonstration began at about 1050 hours from Obra Spot at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra towards the United States of America Embassy at Cantonments, to register their displeasure at the bombing of Libya by Western allied forces.

However, when the demonstrators reached a junction near Ghana Broadcasting Corporation at Kanda, a team of Police personnel from the Greater Accra Regional Police Command met them and showed a Prohibition Order from an Accra Circuit Court prohibiting the demonstration and asked them to stop.

The demonstrators refused to acknowledge and obey the court’s order and started heckling the Police, while some of them continued demonstrating, a situation which made the police to call for reinforcement leading to the arrest of the 24.

Those arrested were immediately brought to the Greater Accra Regional Police Headquarters to a meeting with the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Rose Bio Atinga, who instructed that the demonstrators should be processed for court on Thursday, September 22.

DCOP Bio Atinga told Ghana News Agency that those arrested would be charged with “unlawful assembly”, and “acts that tend to disrupt the peace of the nation”.

She said the Greater Accra Regional Police Command met leaders of the Coalition and explained to them that there were many activities in Accra on Thursday, September 21 including the Milo Marathon and asked them to reschedule the demonstration but they refused.

DCOP Bio Atinga said in view of their refusal, the Police went to court to secure an injunction to prohibit the demonstration, a copy of which was made available to the GNA.

The order, dated September 16, was secured from the Circuit Court of Justice, Accra signed by Mrs Patience Mills Tetteh, Circuit Judge, and it read: “The organisation calling itself US/NATO Hands Off Libya and Hands Off Africa Coalition are hereby prohibited from demonstrating on September 21.”

“It is further ordered that the intended demonstration could come on at a later date when police have been notified.”

DCOP Bio Atinga said based upon the order, she instructed personnel at the Cantonments Police Station to be on alert and watch-over the American Embassy to arrest any demonstrator who would be picketing around.

Mr Sekou Mwanza Nkrumah, Leader of the demonstrators, who was also arrested told GNA shortly before he was detained that the action of the Police showed how much influence the United States of America had over the Government in Ghana.

He expressed shock at the arrest questioning whether individual Ghanaians did not have rights and liberties to express their views anymore.
Prior to the demonstration the A-APRP and the Hands Off Libya coalition have stated:

The Libyan masses own and control their resources! Ninety percent of all oil revenues in Libya are used to meet the needs of the masses. Every month $500 dollars of the nation’s revenues go directly into every Libyans bank account. When marrying, Libyan couples receive 60,000 dinars (about $50,000 US dollars) to begin their married life and start their family. Libyans have free education, free health care, free electricity, free water, and every citizen receives a free house. Tens of thousands of Ghanaians and Africans have gone to Libya for work and have sent remittances to their families to raise their living conditions. Libya contributed $300 million to buy a satellite for Africa improve its telecommunications system and was preparing to contribute $32 billion to establish an African Monetary Fund, to replace the dictatorial US and EU controlled International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB). This $32 billion will be under the control of the African Union, which will end European imperialist economic control over African governments, to create political space for Africa to Unify under a continental government. Libya has demonstrated a commitment to African Unity.

NDC Saga - Follow Up - Again:

Angry supporters of Konadu disrupted her activities –

    Asiedu-Nketia

The General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu-Nketia, has

disassociated the party from the weekend’s skirmishes in Cape Coast

where former First Lady, Mrs Rawlings was prevented from using the

    Town Hall.

Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings had wanted to use the hall to address and

thank her fans who supported her during her failed presidential bid in July,

but was physically prevented from doing so by some machomen, who said

    they were acting under instructions.

The NDC Central regional chairman subsequently defended the action to

prevent the use of the hall.

But Mr Asiedu-Nketia told Joy News Elvis Adjetey that since those involved

were suspected to be disgruntled members of the 31st December

Women’s Movement, the party had nothing to do with the incident.

“The 31st December Women’s Movement branch in the [Central] Region

For this reason the members of the ANC, including Nelson Mandela were regarded as dangerous terrorists. ARE THOSE WHO WANT TO EXPORTING DEMOCRACY EVEN DEMOCRATS?

    How many people know in these self-proclaimed democracies that;

    - The Libyan government is [was] based on a system of allied tribes, summarized by definition, people in small units. The democratic spirit lives much more in a trunk, in a village, as in a great country, just simply because people know each other and share a common rhythm of life that brings a kind of self-regulation or even self-censorship so far with it, as the reactions and counter reactions of group members affect the entire group.

    - How many people know, that Rwanda the only country in the world is, where women represent 56% of MPs?

    - How many people know, that the "CIA World Index 2007", names four of the best-governed countrie... in Africa?

    - How many people know, that the peak price goes to Equatorial Guinea, whose national debt make up only 1.14 percent of gross domestic product?

    - How many people know, that the people of Benghazi have a long held vendetta against Qaddafi. This is not a secret! In fact, they don’t take him that much to heart. They hate him! Mind you, Muammar al-Qaddafi was the one who ousted king Idris in a bloodless coup in 1969. The ousted king and the people of Benghazi are from the same tribe.

    - How many people know, that in Libya, was a circulation of wealth. Those in need of employment had employment. Those in need of education had access to free education. There was a welfare system set up for the temporary unemployed. As a result, the crime rate in Libya was close to zero.

    - How many people know, that In Sept 23, 2009, Muammar al-Qaddafi came to New York to address the United Nations. The speech was memorable!Muammar al-Qaddafi was of view that Africa was being discriminated against. He wasn't alone in this conviction! In that regard, Robert Mugabe went before him. He too called for Africa's inclusion in the Security Council in his 2008 speech to the UN.

The American sociologist C. Wright Mills wrote in 1956 that American democracy was a "dictatorship of the elite." According to Mills, the United States of America are not a democracy, because it is money that speaks during the elections, and not the people.

The claim that there is an advantage for the Libyans, if they being killed, beats everything...

After 500 years, of a clearly a thoroughly unequal relationship with the West - we do not have the same criteria, of what is good and what is bad...

Capital of the African Monetary Fund (AMF):

    Fact: Algeria (U.S. $ 16 billion) and Libya (U.S. $ 10 billion).
Together, 62 percent to $ 42 billion (the capital of the African Monetary Fund (AMF).
The largest and most populous country in sub-Saharan Africa, Nigeria, followed by South Africa are each with - only U.S. $ 3 billion - far behind.

Today's events remind you of what happened to China in the past. Today the UN recognize the rebel government in Libya, as they made it to the end of the Second World War with China. It took 26 years to the 25 October 1971, the UN adopted Resolution 2758, which should be read all the Africans, in order to put an end this folly.

After the Ghanaian governement recognized the rebels, just to please our former masters, how can we expect, to be respected?

Africa's strength and true freedom will only develop if it is well thought out actions and the consequences in mind.

    Economic motive

Kwame Nkrumah stated, “Military strategy presupposes political aims; all military problems are political and all political problems are economic.” The basis and motive for the U.S.-NATO invasion of Libya is economic. European and American capitalism has decayed into crisis and the NATO countries have a massive and uncontrollable foreign debt of more than $49 trillion, according to the World Bank.

America owes $14.6 trillion, the European Union owes $13.7 trillion, Britain owes $9 trillion, Germany owes $4.7 trillion, France owes $4.7 trillion and The Netherlands owes $3.7 trillion. And with their spending addiction, they all can never pay back their debts. This is the reason why they are invading Libya with international state terrorism using the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, a terrorist organization, to rob Africa – a military strategy to solve an economic problem.

    History of robbing Africa

These NATO countries have enriched themselves in the past by organizing an armed robbery for human beings – a slave raid – with cannons, guns and chains, using local agents to capture and steal millions of Africans from their families, tribes, nations and continent. They enriched themselves further by organizing a Berlin Conference in Germany, 1884, to invade Africa with violent armed colonization, robbing Africa for gold, diamonds and other valuable resources through the forced exploitation of African labor.

With organization, Africans have defeated the slave raid and colonialism. Africa will defeat neo-colonialism, which Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah correctly called, “The last stage of imperialism” in the title to his famous book, “Neo-Colonialism the Last Stage of Imperialism.” Today, the front line is in Libya – the key country leading Africa to continental government and economic independence as a liberated zone.

    Libya as an example

The Libyan masses own and control their resources! Ninety percent of all oil revenues in Libya are used to meet the needs of the masses. Every month, $500 of the nation’s revenues go directly into every Libyan’s bank account. When marrying, Libyan couples receive 60,000 dinars – about $50,000 – to begin their married life and start their family.

Libyans have free education, free health care, free electricity, free water and every citizen receives a free house. Tens of thousands of Ghanaians and other Africans have gone to Libya for work and have sent remittances to their families to raise their living conditions. Libya contributed $300 million to buy a satellite for Africa to improve its telecommunications system and was preparing to contribute $30 billion to establish an African Monetary Fund to replace the dictatorial U.S. and E.U. controlled International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB).

This $30 billion will be under the control of the African Union, which will end European imperialist economic control over African governments, to create political space for Africa to unify under a continental government. Libya has demonstrated a commitment to African unity, and Ghanaians and all Africans must stand with Libya in the spirit of Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah on Sept. 21, 2011, Osagyefo’s 102nd birthday, and MARCH ON THE U.S. EMBASSY.

Qaddafi: A great African leader and revolutionary

Muammar Qaddafi led the Libyan masses to forcibly remove the puppet of imperialism, King Idris, from power and eliminated the U.S., British and Italian military bases from Libyan/African soil. He led the masses to take control of Libya’s rich oil resources, which were being robbed by U.S., U.K. and Italian companies, like Occidental, Mobile, British Petroleum and ENI.

Qaddafi wrote “The Green Book” and the “Third Universal Theory” to develop an ideology which guides the Libyan people and serves as an example for Africans and people of the world to create a just and righteous society, based on right principles and independent thinking from their culture and history. This is similar to Nkrumah writing his book, “Consciencism: philosophy and ideology for decolonization,” in which Nkrumah stated, “Practice without thought is blind; thought without practice is empty.”

70 Ghanaian 'mercenaries' detained by Libya's NTC

    Source: citifmonline

The government of Ghana says it is working tirelessly to seek the

release of about 70 detained Ghanaian nationals, suspected to be

mercenaries, backing the pro-Gaddafi rebels. The suspects are

currently being held in detention in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

They are among a group of West and North Africans being picked

up on the orders of the rebel-led National Transitional Council.

The NTC have taken charge of a significant part of the country

following the disappearance of former dictator, Muammar Gaddafi.

The rebels have been rounding up persons it accuses of being

mercenaries, working for the fugitive leader.

One of the detained Ghanaians, Hassan Abdallah who spoke to

Joy FM through a smuggled mobile phone, said that presently no

charges have been brought against them, since last week Monday

    when they were detained.

“They have collected our passports, our luggage, everything, they

have not told us anything. There are even people here from the

Ghanaian embassy but they refuse to let them enter. The condition

we live in is very bad, the whole day we are giving just water and a

    little bread for food”.

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni has

corroborated the information but however clarified that the

Ghanaians were being held in detention because of immigration

irregularities and offences and not as mercenaries. He assured

that Ghana’s missions were working tirelessly to have the prisoners

    released.

“When we first heard the information we spoke to our Chargee

D’affaire, Emmanuel Anoff in Libya, who confirmed to us that their

preliminary investigations had shown that Ghanaians were among

some groups of persons who had been detained because of some

    immigration violations.

“As at now, we are uncertain about the exact number of Ghanaian

citizens who have held up but we are working towards having

    them released. ”

NPP women angry over textile seizures

    Source: citifmonline

The women’s wing of the New Patriotic Party has taken a swipe at the government

for the recent seizures of textiles on the market.

According to them, Government is only using the Chinese as an excuse to persecute

    hardworking Ghanaian women.

Addressing a Press conference on Wednesday September 13, the NPP women’s wing

alleged that the victims of the seizure are being targeted because they refuse to pay

some monies to officials who are engaged in seizure.

In an interview with Citi News, the Parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma South,

Ursula Owusu admonished the government not to politicize the issue but rather

tackle the issue from the top and not to deny the women engaged in the textile

    business their means of livelihood.

“I think this is a hydra headed issue and it needs the government to take a

comprehensive look at it. We want our local textile industry to survive and we

want those who trade in textiles to be able to go about their business in a legal

manner without harassment from any of the security agencies.

“This is not an NPP, CPP or NDC thing, the women who trade in textiles are just

people who just want to make a living regardless of their political background and

if the conditions are good for them they would be able to support their families.

“If there is any issue which needs to be addressed I think the Ministry of Trade

and Industry, the revenue agencies and the standards board ought to sit down

and devise strategies and policies which would ensure that our local industries

would survive and those who import the goods from China are able to go about

    business safely without any harassment”.

Libya: Ghana Joins Nigeria and Does Obeisance

    To NATO

After what recently happened in Libya, one is apt to wonder what

democracy really stands for. If democracy is the keyword used to

justify the destruction of human lives and property, then God help

    us all!

Yes, the NATO-aided NTC rebels have apparently managed

to do away with Muammar Gaddafi, and Ghana, among other

African countries has, after a littlehesitation, decided to do obeisance

to the western powers by recognizing these anti-Gaddafi miscreants.

The question now remains: does a post-Gaddafi Libya hope to become

a land of milk and honey?

Believe me, that would be a very tall order

because actually, whether you like Gaddafi or not, Libya,

by all appreciable standards, had the highest standard of living in

    Africa, under Gaddafi.

If western-style democracy was a yardstick for

determining developmental success, Ghana, Nigeria and other countries

in Africa would not be in their present predicaments.

    Let's take a look

at some of the comforts and benefits.Libyans enjoyed under Gaddafi

    and draw our own conclusions.

When Gaddafi took over, Libyans had an average annual income

    NDC congratulates CPP

Accra, Sept. 12, GNA - The National Democratic Congress (NDC)

on Monday congratulated the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) for a

successful congress and the election of Miss Christina Samia Yaba

Nkrumah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro as National

    Chairperson of the Party.

A statement issued in Accra by Mr James Asante, NDC Director of

Communications, said 93We also congratulate the electorate for the

overwhelming support they gave to Miss Nkrumah. By voting for her,

the NDC believes the electorates have shown the level of trust and

hope the Party reposes in her to manage affairs of the CPP".

The statement said, The NDC views Samia's endorsement as

historic in Ghana's body politic, being the first woman to lead a

    major political party like CPP.

"It is our expectation that Samia's leadership would bring on board

some political innovations to give the CPP a new face as they

prepare for Election 2012 and future elections.

"To all those who contested the elections and did not register

personal victory in various offices, the NDC applauds your display

of stiff opposition to the winner. Indeed you have demonstrated

your genuine support for democracy in the country.

"The NDC wishes Samia and the CPP well", it stated.

TOR must not shut down - Mills

President Mills has told the Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery

(TOR) that he doesn’t want the facility shut down.

Mr. Ato Ampiah told Citi News President Mills gave his personnel

assurance towards ensuring that the refinery does not grind to a total

halt when the two met at the Castle on Wednesday September 7, over

the imminent close down of the refinery.

Botched crude imports from Nigeria have starved TOR of urgently

needed crude supply to feed the refinery which has consequently been

operating at half capacity for the past two weeks.

Its Residual Crude Catalytic Cracker, (RFCC) which produces 90

percent of the country’s LPG supply would be shut down early next

week if no crude consignment arrives in the coming days.

Already the refinery’s crude distillation unit that processes crude into

diesel, petrol, kerosene and other products has been closed for

almost two weeks due to the shortage of crude oil.....

Ghana has space to borrow more, Veep responds

    to Akufo-Addo

Vice President John Dramani Mahama has in a veiled manner,

responded to criticism from the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP)

flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo criticism of the Mills-

    Mahama government’s contraction of loans.

Delivering the maiden Liberty Lectures organized by think tank

Danquah Institute on Thursday August 30, Nana Akufo-Addo

criticized government for contracting over 10 billion dollars of

loans in a “mad rush” just two years after assuming office but

with nothing to show for those loans.

He said the loans risk plummeting Ghana into deep financial

crisis. According to Nana Akufo-Addo, “at the end of 2008

Ghana’s domestic debt stood at 4.8 billion cedis equivalent

    to $3.3 billion.

“According to the Bank of Ghana, at the end of June 2011,

Ghana’s total domestic debt was 10.8 billion cedis, showing

an increase of 30 per cent over the previous six months alone
