The deceased went missing on April 13, when he sent cattle belonging to one Mr Dong Nayayiri for grazing.
The cattle however found their way to their kraal, compelling Mr Nayayiri to report the matter to the Police in Wa, while a search party managed to find the corpse of Seidu in the bush.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Wisdom Lavoe, Regional Police Crime Officer, told journalists that police personnel who accompanied the complainant to the scene found the deceased in a supine position, with the body in a decomposition stage.
He said there was a deep slash on his neck and a swell on his eye.
DSP Lavoe said the medical officer who carried out the post mortem on the victim indicated that he died as a result of the deep cut inflicted on his neck leading to acute blood loss.
He said some police personnel were therefore detailed to investigate the incident, leading to the arrest of the suspects after an informant had provided reliable information.
DSP Lavoe said the houses of the suspects who ranged from 20 to 55 years were raided where a locally manufactured pistol, shotgun, cartridge and a number of bows and arrows were found in their rooms. | Nine confirmed dead in Mankessim accident *Source GNA | Cape Coast, July 16, GNA - Nine people have been confirmed dead and several others seriously injured when the vehicle in which they were traveling got involved in a horrific accident on Friday at Akrom near Ekumfi Swedru, after the Mankessim Bridge in the Central Region.

AlbertAbongo.com (new window) The former Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Hon. Albert Abongo has denied categorically that a 12-member government delegation that signed the STX Korea housing deal on behalf of the country in 2009 were bribed with US$2,600 by the Korean company.
Hon. Albert Abongo said members of the delegation merely received gifts from the Korean company which cannot be termed as inducement. He says the gifts could not have compromised their judgments in respect of the STX housing deal. The Mail newspaper on Thursday July 15 quoted ‘a source’ as alleging that the delegation that signed the STX Korea housing deal were induced with a sum of US$2,600 each for “shopping” by the Korean company. The report further stated that each member of the delegation which included the Minority Leader, Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu and Mrs. Cecelia Dapaah from the opposition benches took the US$2,600 bribe with the exception of a businessman, who refused the bribe. However in an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on Thursday July 15, Hon Albert Abongo dismissed the report describing it as a complete fabrication. He revealed that what they took were only gifts and not bribes to induce them. “As the story goes, that we took some money is not the case, we were given gifts and those gifts if I can remember, my gifts included some souvenirs of their company, some flags, I was also given a watch and I think I was given a camera too for us to be able to take pictures if I wanted…and I don’t think that these are basically things that can compromise a high government delegation like ours”. According to the former Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing, the story can not be true because the Minority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu was not part of his delegation but a later delegation which travelled to Korea separately and added that he cannot vouch for that delegation. “Infact even the story mentions the minority leader but the minority leader was not in our delegation. Another delegation I understand went again and that was headed by the now Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Hon Alban Bagbin and that delegation had the minority leader in and some members from the other side of the house”. The Ghana government deal with the STX Korea would see the latter building units of housing in the country worth US$10 billion. The project involves the building of 200,000 homes in Ghana by 2015. Meanwhile President John Evans Atta Mills has directed that the Supplier's Credit Financing Agreement that generated unending debate in Parliament on Wednesday be withdrawn and sent to a Joint Ministerial Committee for a re-look. Mr Alban Sumana Bagbin, Minister of Water Resources Works and Housing, who announced the directive, said President Mills took note of the concerns The Minority raised and had referred the issue to the Committee to take a second look at the whole Agreement. | Mills Hits Back: Sekou Is Useless * Source: Daily Guide | The Co-ordinator of the National Youth Council (NYC), Dr Sekou Nkrumah, has finally been booted out of office after making a damning criticism of President Atta Mills and his leadership style. Sekou had said that President Mills was not cut out for presidential office, suggesting that the former law lecturer was only fit for the classroom.
The statement caused panic in government, leading to his dismissal yesterday; three days after DAILY GUIDE published an interview granted to AfricaWatch magazine.
A letter dated July 15, 2010 and signed by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Nii Nortey Dua, sent to Sekou and copied to the Secretary to the Vice President, Chief of Staff and the Chairperson of the National Youth Council, said Sekou Nkrumah who had told the magazine that he was not afraid of dismissal had been relieved of his appointment.
“I write to inform you that on the recommendation of the Board of Trustees of the National Youth Council, based on your performance at post, it cannot recommend confirmation of your appointment as Acting National Co-ordinator of the National Youth Council,” the letter said.
For this reason, the Deputy Minister stated, “I hereby on the authority of His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills terminate your appointment as Acting Co-ordinator of the National Youth Council with effect from July 22, 2010.”
Government has offered to pay Sekou three months salary in lieu of notice and consequently requested him to prepare and submit a comprehensive handing-over note to the Director of Administration at the NYC before his final exit.
He has thus been asked to hand over all government or NYC properties in his possession to the Director of Administration.
Sekou, third son of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, had told the AfricaWatch magazine that “a lot of people see Mills as an academic and a gentleman.
But, in the political arena, you need to be strong-minded, and it looks like this leadership quality is missing in Mills.
So I guess we need a more strong-willed, dynamic personality, a charismatic person to inspire national confidence, and also to let the population see the national agenda and feel part of it.”
Dr. Nkrumah was asked: “Is the Mills government on course to deliver its pre-election promises of a Better Ghana?”
He answered: "Honestly, there is a big question mark because since the NDC came to power in January 2009, there has not really been any serious change in real terms.
"From where I am standing, I can see clearly that since coming to power, the Mills government has not fulfilled its promises. I know it is not politically correct, but that's a fact."
The AfricaWatch magazine asked Dr. Nkrumah, “Is the economy any better now than when President Mills met it in January 2009?”.
He answered "I am not an expert, but it doesn't seem to be better now than when the NDC met it. I don't think much has changed."
Though the interview with Sekou was conducted two weeks ago, it was not until its publication in DAILY GUIDE on Tuesday that it really hit the government, paving way for his dismissal.
Sekou said he bore nobody grudges for his dismissal. “I have nothing against the board. I have nothing against the President,” he told Joy FM yesterday.
He had earlier met President Mills before his letter was delivered to him.
He said he was going to clear the air after the dust of his removal had settled, especially on the allegation that he was incompetent.
NYC Board Chairperson Esther Cobbah has been offering some explanation as to why he was given the boot.
Aside the charge that the Board was unimpressed about his work, Ms. Cobbah said Sekou “blames everybody else but himself for the shortcomings of the council" since he took over the place and yet "has not provided any vision or plan for the council."
This compelled the Board to take a unanimous decision not to confirm his appointment, she said.
That notwithstanding, she said, Sekou had shown gross disrespect to the membership of the Board, making reference to a recent interview he granted Joy FM in which he said that government had rejected the National Youth Policy.
She therefore denied the claim that government had directed the Minister of Youth and Sports to draft a new National Youth Policy in two weeks, as suggested by Sekou, adding that he did not demonstrate circumspection in his public utterances.
Born and bred in his father’s Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP), Sekou Nkrumah defected to join the NDC in April 2007.
Sekou said he would relocate to the NDC headquarters where he would have more time to do party work.
In an interview with DAILY GUIDE, the National Youth Organiser of the CPP, Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr. aka Kabila, ridiculed Sekou’s dismissal, saying that “it shows a government that is not ready to take criticisms from within.”
He believed the Co-ordinator had merely been sacrificed on the altar of truth to appease the whims of party foot-soldiers who had been craving for his dismissal since he made those critical comments about the president’s leadership style, saying “it shows a vindictive president.
“This is again a manifestation that we have only got a president who listens to foot-soldiers and not the concerns of Ghanaians,” he emphasized.

| | | NDC Member Adds Voice To STX Korea Discussion * Source: FocusFM, Kumasi | Many people and groups continue to add their voices to the STX Korea deal and the latest to join the discussion is Mr. John Owusu Agyeman, a member of the National Executive Committee of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC). He is asking Ghanaians not to be afraid of taking loans to develop the nation, citing Ghana and other countries which have depended on various loan facilities to develop various aspects of their economy.
Mr. Agyeman, who was speaking in an interview with Focus news’ Bernard Buachi asked whether any nation had been sold for being indebted, adding that even the United States of America was so high in debt but yet is the wealthiest nation in the world.
The legal practitioner stated that those opposing this deal were not doing so out of genuine concern for the nation but rather out of political interests. Asked why the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA) was not given the deal, the NDC kingpin answered back with the question; “has GREDA been able to raise the amount of money needed for the construction of any state sponsored project in this country? He said government had not stopped GREDA from also coming forward with proposals “if they know anywhere in the world they can also go like STX, arrange for a loan , the Ghana government is ready to give a sovereign guarantee so that the loan will be given to GREDA to come and construct the buildings”.
According to Mr. John Owusu Agyeman, the country is still in deficit of about a million houses, the Koreans are in to build two Hundred thousand leaving Eight Hundred thousand houses which GREDA can pursue if they had the means. He however thinks the idea of insuring the deal as being raised by some parliamentarians is not out of order.
