The Poem - Steadfast with God
Nana Frema Busia
Ghana is sweet o, let us dance, Gesture rhythmic steps towards the NPP/ NDC political foxtrot On main street Ghana, they are jubilating that A bloody elephant has been succumbed with a deadly umbrella blow Surely King JAK and his Midas crew developed corrupt ears that could not hear They are now clothed in naked defeat so real ‘Yeresesam ako yen anim’ so we dance The college of democracy is interested in Truth, accountability, economic and social justice as watchmen Something is certainly wrong with Our collective morality, ethics and principles Of ingrained corruption and permissive greed These are the treadmills of moving forward to nowhere dance EX President JAK sung blatant discordant baritones of My golden legacy is around my neck Dancing the globe trotting waltz with Partners whose fuel slanted eyes do not see so well The king’s men and women who should have known better Cheered on the unpardonable and justified the ungodly TILL the top heavy ‘kukrudu’ tripped and fell On the fake hop hop kangaroo dance of elephants
H.E. President Attah Mills and his ‘horsepower’ team Shall spread iron clad umbrella tentacles Around the misplaced priority golden jubilee presidential peacock house Some are saying that the H. E. Attah Mills victory parade Has already been overrun by negative ‘akatamanso’ forces dancing the hot salsa dance A change in location to grandiose edifice is not the needed absolution It does not release the demons of power that haunt the Ghana presidency
Peace ho, is Ghana’s victory sweet and sour or what? ‘Asabone nkum asaase oooo o’ let us dance I am not dancing the NPP I told you so dance Because I believe in Ghana; I am gingerly learning ‘Onyame wo ho ye hu’ steps I am soberly reflecting gospel blues and singing ‘Gye Nyame’ deliverance songs for Ghana
Ghana is sweet paa o; let us dance the ‘fawohodi’ freedom dance Let loose all manner of prisoners in an indiscriminate jigsaw joke Another puzzle that will tarnish an already beleaguered legacy Our national footnotes boast a depressing line up of Compulsive corpses and a tragedy of mangled bodies Emaciated ghosts follow the trail in a procession of blood to Accra In a public invitational to the jubilation dance
H.E. President Attah Mills & company’s new Ghana manifesto Should revisit the basics of governance A sincere political will to serve God and the people with ‘kokromoti’ thumb printing power Unencumbered by selfish interests in 10 percent sidekicks is key to progress Shall we truly truly dance the ‘asomdwoe’ dance? Peace ho, Development knocks, Dance yes Dance the dance of acquiescence.
